Paula M. Mekkelsen is a licensed clinical social worker with over 40 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through life’s challenges. She earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Connecticut and holds advanced credentials including Diplomate in Clinical Social Work (DSW), Qualified Clinical Social Worker (QCSW), and Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional (CIMHP). She has been a member of the National Association of Social Workers since 1985.

Paula offers a compassionate and integrative approach to therapy, blending evidence based techniques with holistic practices that support the mind body connection. Her work is grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems, solution focused therapy, trauma informed care, and Jungian and attachment based modalities. She also provides wellness coaching and collaborates with like minded professionals through her work in the community.

Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, coping skills, trauma and PTSD, mood disorders, life transitions, grief, relationship and family issues, parenting support, addiction, and stress management. Paula sees individuals across the lifespan from children and teens to adults and older adults and works with diverse communities including LGBTQ+ individuals and blended families.
